Generally most computer programs run on the CPU unless you explicitly write them to run on the GPU.

your operating system uses the gpu to render graphics to the screen but by default your cpu is generally doing the heavy lifting. as in, your cpu is deciding what the gpu displays, the gpu is just displaying it. you can push a lot of the load to the gpu through shader languages and shit but honestly i dont really know much more than that im a web shitter
