Japanese games are made for the same fanbase they always have been for. That's why there's no innovation, but also why they are usually the panty quest simulators they are known to be. Western games will try to innovate. Right now you're seeing how this can be a bad thing as they attempt to comply with rightthink (I hope the R word didn't upset or confuse anyone!) because they think the people complaining will buy their games. Sometimes they focus too much on complying, and end up making ape escape but you play as the ape. People who don't want to play as a monkey then say it sucks, people who don't play as a monkey but think gamers should happily play as a monkey get mad.

You can pick whichever side you want but I'd rather pay money for what I want with the assurance that devs will keep making it for me.
