What bugs me more is that the Thalmor shit talk you ever if you are a high elf. I imagine that similar to how Dunmer characters get shittalked in Morrowind the Dragonborn can't be born and bred in the Summerset Isles, but it's lame that the Thalmor can figure that out at a glance.

Not every Altmer is part of the Thalmor.
In fact, the Thalmor are pretty much a high elite of Altmer that supress the rest of the population.
A lot of the high elves hate the Thalmor too.

Skyrim does a really bad job at explaining what the Thalmor are. They are an organization within the Altmer society.
Thalmors aren't necessarily nice to other Altmer either if said Altmer get in the way of their plans.
