About a month ago, a person claiming to just be a kid playing Automata started posting on the Nier subreddit. The account is a couple months old and had asked some help questions before.

The post in question was him asking for help on how to "access """the church"""" after the Adam boss fight. No one understood what he meant, so he began posting pictures of some area which no one had seen. Then over the course of the past month or so, under the guise of being a dumb kid struggling to figure out how to properly record what was happening (using a phone, mom didn't want him to use much storage, etc.), he started posting longer and longer clips, creating even more questions: A door in the wall that no one knew about in the Adam boss arena (and that no one could reproduce in game), that door leading to a drop and then hallway and then subarea off the map in which there was a church with a black blob and a girl's body with a Drakengard reference. Him not knowing what to do with the blob, figuring out he needed to 9S hack it, finding a birdbath with cryptic questions in korean or something, etc.

The entire time no one was able to reproduce it and the conclusion became that either this was some elaborate trolling using a modded client, or that he somehow had some dev build version of the game and had stumbled into a cut content area.

Then, a couple days ago he began cryptically dropping the screenshots in this thread (also of completely unknown areas), which feature even heavier direct references to Drakengard 3 on reddit, with post titles that were themselves, fairly intricate lore references to Automata/Drakengard--with zero explanation of where they were taken, how they connected to the previous areas he'd posted about, or any information.

So the assumption now is that it's either still an elaborate troll, or ARG marketing for a new game or remake.
