You can beat a lot of these games under an hour if you know what youre doing, tools like save states actually make me play more because at that point im past just wanting to beat the game, im going for full no continues or least amount of lives lost because I can train for it. If it's not rewind or save ststes then it's gonna be passwords or continues or save files from the internet anyways

I was lucky to have a game, there was no way I was going to get my mom to buy me magazines on top of that. Most of us had nothing to go on beyond determination and schoolyard talk.

same, the only magazine i ever got a hold of was a book on all the mk1 and 2 fatalities and special moves list. i didn't even know anyone that had video game magazines. i always thought they existed in super markets so kids had something to do while parents shopped lmao

I used to, too, but ever since I've actually gone back to play through nearly all those games the "proper" way because I found myself wanting the experience more and more. It's more fun for me to actually have the little joys that come from building your party right or finding and equipping strong equipment than when I started at first just using "have all items in inventory and 9999 of every stat" cheats in everything.
