For those that don't know, it took the Tales series 13 years to have another super happy ending. After Tales of Graces f came out in 2009, every mainline game following it had some sort of ending where characters never met each other again, died and were erased from existence so they could protect someone else, sealed away forever only to return later in life after all their human friends already died, or sealed away in a perpetual dream sequence where they could only live in a fake existence to barely hold the world together.
The newest game ended with the main couple getting married and they threw a party. Dude, nobody's playing these games for downer endings.
And other shows that came out around the same time like walking dead or attack on titan. They're written like retarded soap operas with added gore. I guess writers figured out they don't have to try so hard anymore when they can just kill off any character to build up fake suspense.
