You know the answer already. The kind of people who have these political opinions want to be involved in the creative sphere but don't have the talent/skill to make something of their own, or whoever they could get funding from doesn't want to give money to a project that opens, closes and preaches at you every 15 minutes about political bullshit. Landing a job that is supposed to be routine makes them overconfident as if they were in charge of the project, and they put "personal touches" wherever they can.
