Unfortunately that's what Iwakura was doing as well. AFAIK there was never a full retranslation in the works.

I might play Tatsuya's Scenario at some point, but IS and EP are some of my least liked MegaTen games so I'm in no rush.
The Snow Queen Quest is the best part of P1 in my opinion, I'd recommend getting around to it.

They used weird amalgamations for the 4kids tier name changes the P1 cast characters got, to i guess changing those for the OG japanese names is what they mean for few changes.

The dialogue often felt stilted and amateurishly translated to me. Also, this was a very clumsy way of conveying the character were speaking in Chinese. I don't think it's the worst translation ever or anything, but it feels low effort.

No, but I don't need to recognize the translation feeling stilted in English. I'm not saying it's not faithful to the Japanese script, I wouldn't know if it is or not, I just know that it would often read awkwardly in English.
