It would be fine if it actually was math only but, the reason Voltorb Flip is utter garbage is that it often DOES come down to a "flip". Of a coin. You spend maybe a couple minutes figuring out where to go via pure logic, only to end with a set of four panels where the voltorbs could be in positions A and C or positions B and D. And you have no way of knowing.

So instead of a purely chance thing like slots, which take no cognitive ability whatsoever, you actually have to focus and think. Only for it to blow up in your face in a coin flip at the last moment.
