If you pick sword you unironically not get some good abilities like second chance till fucking 70. Guard is like at 35
In final mix, taking staff locks you from getting second chance until 90. That ability matters, especially if you plan on fighting the superbosses.

The orbment system in Trails in the Sky was great. Took me about half an hour to figure out how it worked too lol
Not that user but while I agree that the choice doesn't sound insignificant it does however sound like a pretty shitty leveling decision.
Haven't played KH yet but locking moves and skills behind some poorly described choice sounds like some grade A bullshit.
Not picking staff locks out of extra MP. Shield prevents you from even getting an extra item slot.
