I know this is bait, but honestly it was amazing. There weren't any guides except the official one not many had. You explored a mysterious cave post game and find the strongest pokemon in the game and now you have the power to be THAT guy at school or with your friends. Shit was simpler back then, but way more impactful and exciting and I feel for anybody who didn't get to enjoy it.

It's on the fucking gameboy what do you expect it to look like? The game is well made and was at the time really innovative, yes the concept existed prior but Pokemon streamlined the idea and gave it a universal appeal and it introduced the multiplayer component.
