I can believe it. It's been in development for like 5 years or some shit and the gameplay we saw a didn't really evolve passed the gameplay we saw a long fucking time ago.
So they probably realizes the team was a bunch of fuck up and only really had a story in mind but were vastly incompetent in the actual gameplay department. So they went radio silent and just drew up a VN in place of any actual gameplay or graphics.

Yes, it's a primarily a VN with the sidegame play being grid based SRPG, kinda like Uta

Many games have been straight up cancelled days before release. Scalebound for one. like 3 days from release.
