I know it's a trope older than Gundam's Zakus but what exactly is the strength of sending out 500 ships with the combined strength and firepower of cardboard? Even Rouge Squadron couldn't hype up the regular Tie Fighter with a straight face because they're basically floating targets and the turnover rate for dead pilots must be in the trillions.
Tie Interceptors were fucking annoying though.
