Better than Pathfinder games

Pillars of Eternity 1 was so fucking bad it made me realize Obsidian have only made 1 good game and is actually a fucking awful studio.

PoE1 wasn't exactly good but I just hoped it's a BG1 kinda deal where the first game is rather bland but the sequel would ramp up in scale and complexity. Unfortunately we got PoE2 instead.

But Poe2 was good and an objective improvement

Can't really beat Pathfinder in that regard, especially Wrath of the Trannies. That game was so bad that I couldn't even finish it.

I actually kinda liked PoE 2 (PoE 1 was just awful), the difficulty was all over the place but it made some smart choices with its combat system, also the pacing was a lot better than 1 and it was a lot less verbose than 1, pillars 1 is the only RPG where I skipped dialogue.

That said, the balance is even worse than Pathfinder's, while pathfinder has a lot of useless builds (though the pool of useful builds is still bigger than any other RPG), pillars had the exact opposite problem, you can literally just use your basic abilities up to the endgame, there's basically no reason to use mid or lategame abilities, so what happens is you just pick to abilities and the rest is passives, the items in pillars were also very boring, in Pathfinder some items literally make some build's possible, pillars played it a lot safer.

Also, people say Pathfinder is pozzed as fuck but let me tell you, pathfinder is NOTHING compared to pillars, your ENTIRE party is made of homos, every woman is fuckugly, the only decently attractive people are (you guessed it) men and even then it's a coin toss, there's this constant theme of "colonialism bad" and "religion bad" throughout the game and you either have to side with bad fantasy europeans or good noble savage natives, it's awful.

I did everything to please Ondra in the main game and then the dlc rolls around and I convince that fish lady not to throw the coin in the water to forget her memories and then Ondra tears me a new asshole in 2 just because I did 1 thing wrong, like it was the only thing that mattered, nevermind all the other stuff I did!

In fact, the game outright shows that there are some benefits to colonialism as much as there are detriments.
