If they don’t focus on what made the games appealing, which is an elaborate A -Life system and comfy features like hiding in outposts from emissions and getting updates from your fellow stalkers that traverse the zone, it’ll be really disappointing. A lot of what made the original games so memorable was the proprietary engine which allowed for a really alive feeling game world, I hope they can pull it off to the same level in Unreal Engine.

Stalker 2 being true to the original would probably be too good to be true.
