I played it
It has the best area variety and exploration of the three gbavanias and the magic spells are fun but the controls are just absolute ass , ducking attack is shorter than normal attack for some fucking reason , clock tower music sounds unholy awful , incredibly convoluted map , the "Same castle but spookier oooo~" gimmick of this game makes it even more confusing on where you're actually supposed to go , enemies are so fast that you can't react properly without getting hit (bomb armor can eat a pile of shit) and dracula relics are hidden in very bullshit places , why the fuck would you put one of the items essential for beating the game in a fucking save room hidden behind the samey looking walls I see in every fucking save room is a fucking guess.
Overall I didn't hate the game and it's probably overhated , but it isn't worthy of praise like OP believes it is , I enjoyed COTM far more despite it's run momentum bullshit

I had like 4 different occasions where the next point of progression was placed relatively close but I missed it and explored the entire fucking castles until I found it. I'll never play another metroidvania without keeping a map of all the shit I see but can't reach yet.
Otherwise it was a pretty good game. The beginning was despairingly shitty compared to the other two but it rose up to them later.
