then don't use it

The only reason you should use this is if you are on an Xbox console and the emulator is only on there

Cope

I use it to play all my ps2 games on series s, thanks retroarch!

I've gradually started using Retroarch to replace my other emulators. It's comfy, what's wrong with it?

Isn't it just a front end?

>It's another newfag just realized free software sucks absolute cock episode
You don't want something made for free, ever.

Thank you EA employee

terrible front end

ok, thing slapping and "yup, this baby cost me a bunch but it's worth every penny" saying boomer

What's bad about it?

>Load SNES game
>Have to scroll down with the arrow keys through the whole list
>Wait I can just type in to search right?
>Type in, find game, click on it.
>Backs out to list, doesn't load anything.
>Try again, this time press enter
>Nothing happens
>Press the weird circle with a + thing on the right, maybe that's enter?
>Nothing happens
>Back to list, scroll down manually
>Load game
>Controls are mapped wrong
>Press Esc to bring up the menu like every game ever
>"Press Esc one more time to quit..."
>Oh right, it's F1
>Go to controls
>No, these are the controls for the SNES, not your controller
>Back out
>Back out of Quick Menu
>Find Controls in settings
>Set them up correctly
>Back out
>Press Esc to close menu, as in any other game ever
>"Press Esc one more time to quit..."
>Godammit, press F1

>made for free

Had to figure it out to play Soul Reaver with hd textures and it's pretty damn good for just that. Good thing that's the only thing I wanna play on there lol

Its made for free and open source, donations don't count

Couldn't you just load the game, then click Command at the top and then controls? It defaults to the control menu for the game you're playing

>load core
>navigate to corresponding folder
>select game
>it just works
HOLY FUCK BROS I ALMOST DIED?????

That's not Microsoft Windows.

>"Press Esc one more time to quit..."
At least it warns you and doesn't just close itself immediately. Thanks, Guilty Gear X2 #Reload on PC.

>load code
>get shit FPS on 3ds and psp emulators
>run standalone emus with same exact settings at 60fps no drops + upscale

My favourite is how saving the settings doesn't actually save the settings, instead you have to find some obscure hidden submenu to actually save your settings.
What a masterwork UX design.

you are aware retroarch isn't an emulator right

The UI sucks balls
>N-no you're just filtered!
The emulation sucks compared to stand alone emulators
>Um actshually that's not Retroarch's fault!

and it can be unbound. retards filter themselves more than the program.

Oh no now I've got to bind the front end's controls, the controller's controls, and the emulators controls?

I'll just drop the game into SNES9X instead.

See ya.

I'm convinced people are just pretending to be too retarded to use Retroarch at this point.

So the Retroarch devs shill here, right? That's why we have this topic constantly?
Pretty much proves it.

The problem is not that it's too hard, it's that it sucks.

NTA but you genuinely sound kind of stupid user. You have to click a few buttons and then save it and that's it. Were you alive in the 90's?

The problem is that you are too stupid and/or lazy to learn how to use it

I did learn and I hate it.

I'm getting tired of repeating the script every other day. We need some spice bros.

>and then save it
As pointed out, saving your settings is buried in another menu two more menus down. It's like I'm playing FF8 The Emulator.
>Were you alive in the 90's?
I started gaming on DOS. Retroarch has a shit UX and that's that.

If I'm not allowed to complain about JRPGs and movie games because "dude just ignore it" then the same applies to you. If you can ignore Retroarch, you have no right to complain about it. It's optional and you can ignore it, remember?

it's better for older emulation so you don't have like a million emulators installed. Wouldn't use it for things were the standalone is significantly better (Pcsx2,Dolphin..etc)

It's convenient if you play many retro games across multiple console.
I mostly emulate PSX so I use duckstation

Saving your settings is as easy as pressing Escape twice.

>spice
Here I'll set a bomb that sets the shills in a tizzy:
Retroarch devs steal emulators and code.

No it isn't, I just beat Armored Core Master of Arena again because of it and it ran like butter.

>Retroarch devs steal emulators and code.
So?

Squarepusher, you have to move on man.
