its just fun to play, and creative as hell, I loved playing with the different chips for skills and looking for neato weapon combos,
the story is phenomenal, for the people upset by its "easy and obvious messaging trying to more than it is", I look at it in the lens of watching someone walk for the first time, seeing 2b and 9s discover themselves.
there are so few flaws, and it is sad that this masterwork wont be remembered the way it should be
I havent had a genuine smile playing many games, this is one of them
>boring combat that emphasises visual flair over impact or skill >characters with exactly one personality trait and one twist >names that allude to themes and subtexts that aren't actually there (the name just sounded cool) >story that centers around one obvious twist >dizzying variety of gameplay methods that are all shallow >wink wink nudge nudge 4th wall nods >cringe humor >omg she has such big babooba schwing ooooooh she so young hubba hubba >nonsensical character outfit design >giant robots because creatively bankrupt >using swords in the future because.... JUST BECAUSE, OKAY?
>character design so baaad omggggg >swords in sci fi make no sense hurr ma durr >"centerers around one twist", did you play it? >other nitpicks of game trying to be different

Resident Evil 4
It is truly the perfect package. Satisfying guns, fun action, excellent level design, a perfect inventory and upgrade system, top-tier replayability, great atmosphere, and an entertaining story.
I usually like fast-paced games with good movement systems. RE4 is neither but it does everything so well that it doesn't matter. It is the best game ever made.

If you've never played a Yoko Taro game he loves to use a bunch of tropes and either twist them to piss off the fanbase or make them super tongue in cheek and you apparently missed that.
Charles Martinez
What's the difference between that and replicant? Never played.
Christopher Peterson
Replicant is the first game, Automata is the sequel.
Luis Torres
I tried this game. The first hour was awful. Dropped it.

Very surface level impression. You missed absolutely everything that makes nier automata a fantastic game. Bravo. Did you go back to watching tiktok?
Julian Wood
If you didn't cry at the end you are psychopath, simple as
>the combat is boring >the story is lame >the characters are entirely one-note >the themes are all surface-level with zero comprehension going into any of them >it's basically a pastiche of the author's media consumption hobbies "bro u just missed the good stuff haha"
nier automata is the cinematic equivalent of Kill Bill, except Kill Bill was actually good
Christian Perez
>you're completely correct but it was that way on purpose
Connor Moore
Nier automata must be in my top 5 as well. Fun game and immersive story. Haven't seen a game that made me this hype is a long time.

Half Life. I just love how it's entirely in first person and is the story of some guy trying to escape the most stressful work day ever. You aren't some hero (fuck you, HL2) you're just another scientist trying to evacuate a doomed facility flooding with monsters and psychopath marines, the only difference is you were lucky enough to be wearing an advanced suit of power armour when it all went down. Every chapter has something different happening and yet another challenge to overcome, and the marines are the most fun opponents in a single player FPS. Yes, the platforming is slippy and annoying, and Xen is the worst endgame since Elden Rings, but I play it and the two expansions every year because it just does it for me.
