What happens to assets made for cancelled games? That game must have had well over 100 GB of finished assets that cost tens of millions of dollars to create, surely they wouldn't be so dumb as to throw all of that away.

It sits on a server somewhere to maybe, but probably not get used in the future.

To be fair, you can't put all the blame on Microsoft since it was partly Platinum's fault for failing to meet expectations multiple times. If I were Microsoft, I did be pissed off too. Platinum is not angel of a company. I dont know why people dismissed them from any criticism just because they made one great game that is Nier Automata.

Try terabytes. Raw art assets are fuckhuge, especially for PBR workflows.

As much of a fan of platinum I am that just isn't true. It was platinum that wanted to make a live service game and made a deal with Square Enix for the funding.

Platinum made 1 good game, everything else is pure mediocrity
