imagine going back in time to stop 9/11 but some ghosts show up to prevent that from happening but you never experinced the actual event from your prospective, or even care. its shit writing.

The part of the original story that the remake covers features a private company with an energy monopoly that is so powerful they form the government of a city-state. This company plans a terrorist attack on their own people so they can blame the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE, which you are a part of. Their plan succeeds. Countless people die in a brutal way, including people close to your character and the people he cares about. The characters must move on despite this, and this is the first major event which introduces the themes of the whole game: death, trauma, and continuing on.

The original script is primitive, but the game is emotional and resonates thematically despite this, the millions of fans are a testament to this. But a modern remake should improve on these elements. It should be more sophisticated, more emotional, and more thematically rich.

When retelling this story, somebody decided that what this story needed was for everybody to come back to life shortly after they died with no exceptions.

why does last of us get a 1:1 remaster every fucking year but not games like zelda 2, final fantasy 7, river city ransom, ect

nintendo's not interested in remakes or remasters, usually, unless it's part of a forward port from another system like the infinite wii u ports to switch
final fantasy 7 is infamous for having a cult fanbase of purists, all of which have a differing mental image of The Perfect FF7 but can all roughly agree that it won't compare to a modded FF7 steam install
