I'm 99% sure it was meant to have a whole items/gearing system ala Dark Souls, but they scrapped it to meet deadlines, and then just implemented the shitty ponchos as chest rewards. Hopefully the sequel will build upon the original and become a fully fledged RPG.

Cal was a Padawan that lost his master and blames himself.
Cere was a master that lost her Padawan (in a way) and blames herself.
She saved Cal because resistance/rebellion building, but also she's trying to deal with the loss of her Padawan through guiding Cal. It's a mentor/student relationship that acts as therapy for loss

>becomes a Fallen Jedi when she uses the dark side to murder her way out
>runs away from her tortured, mindbroken padawan instead of taking responsibility
>has to cut herself off from the Force or else she'd probably chimp out

The point of her character is that she is a complete fuck up. The only mystery is why she didn't get a heroic sacrifice at the end.

I don't know about the ps4 version but the game is buggy as hell on PC.

She's absolutely there to fill a quota, but her character is not obnoxious at all so you learn to tolerate her super fast. If it was a white person it would be just another character that complements the story, so It's not that bad compared to other w*stern games really. I don't have a problem with her, it was just Any Forums saying NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER that gave me a different idea until I played it.
Spoiler: What was really fucking stupid was her cheating death with ZERO explanation not once but TWICE in the last five minutes of the game. That was bullshit. She 100% should've died there.

She always was very present in vidya VAs. the thing was that scanning was not a thing back then, nowadays it's almost required in many studios
And they even fuck up that, the fallen order model is uglier than her real self

I guess the reason is that the whole game she was chasing easy redemption through rebuilding the Jedi Order, and then through sacrifice. Instead she has to live and move on, even if nothing can absolve her of her crimes.

For anyone who doesn't know, there's a mod to KIND OF fix Cere's face. Just to make her look actually human, not make her attractive. Someone beat her with an ugly stick, there's just no way to undo that.

Definitely what they should have gone with. The lightsaber should have been a mid or end game weapon that you build up to. It should be able to one or two shot every normal enemy but instead we got an underwhelming glow stick that doesn't feel like the ultimate jedi weapon.
