He's a revolutionary larper who dragged everyone to hell for his ideals. That's expensive bullshit.

rockstar kinda underestimated the earnings of players

but is 43k enough to house, feed and clothe 10 people and 10 horses for the next 75 years?

I think so honestly dont you think ?

he is greedy. he enjoys the life of a outlaw.

he doesnt want to sit around and grow fucking mangos.

There unironically needed to be a secret ending where if you donate enough money everyone actually goes to Tahiti and the game ends

HE'S GOT LUMBAGO

he insists...

And then Dutch realizes that the real Tahiti doesn't live up to the Tahiti in his head.

ARTHUR WE HAVE TO CREATE A WHITE ETHNOSTATE ON TAHITI

Red Dead 3 will take Jack Marston to Australia.

give lenny and charles a nice severance, hang tilly and micah

40k or so would've been worth over a million back then. Given the cost of living was low back then and people averaged 1.5k adjusted bucks a year in wages, yes, 1 mil would've been more than enough for all of them

He had enough money to escape with everyone locked away in a chest and an escape route multiple times, but he couldn't stand the idea of actually doing it and losing his sense of purpose so he kept making up excuses until it was too late. The gang always had an out, Dutch was the only one the Pinkerton's wanted and he could've let the others live safely at any moment while trying to escape himself.

He's a stubborn idealist in a world that doesn't have a place for people like him, rather than change and adapt he chose to blame others and play pretend as a righteous gunslinger until he damned himself. That's the recurring theme of the games. John had an out as well, but damned himself and his son by seeking revenge.

He doesn't know

They should have gone east

Fuck off we’re full

>$43,000 in 1899 is worth $1,535,105.18 today
Looks like someone doesn't know what economics is

Because he really had no plan, he was a sociopathic narcissist and master manipulator. None of the shit he said he was actually about. He just liked lying and having "loyal" people around him that fed into it and supported him.

this
funny how many Any Forumsermin fail to realize this because they lack basic social aptitude and think of Dutch as some kind of an idealist
I've known some people like Dutch IRL and it's either you run away as fast as you can or you risk jail by bashing their fucking head in

He’s using you isn’t it fucking obvious?

If he had an actual plan it would’ve been doable, this guy seemed to live in Tahiti with no problems

The in game book "An American Eden" had a large influence on Dutch. If you read it you'll get why he wanted what he did. Later in the game you can find the author and he confesses it's all made up a lot of his experiences.

>you run away as fast as you can or you risk jail by bashing their fucking head in
Or the only way around, a lot of these people have violent tendencies they will follow through with, it's the psychopathy and lack of impulse control that was even shown in the game.

You follow them around and watch them do things. Sure you might lose a few thousand or get a gun shoved in your face, or maybe arrested. But the experience itself is fun on a bun. I like crazy sociopaths like Dutch. As long as you don't fall for the bullshit then it's a riot!

I think he had a "plan" in the past that failed, and he never mentally moved on from being the one in control of his fate. The way the characters talk about Dutch before the Blackwater massacre makes him seem a lot more competent.

No, he didn't. You're exactly like the kind of person he'd pull in.
