5 is still my favorite. Great villain. Great setting. GREAT soundtrack. I even enjoyed the expansion for 5 New Dawn or whatever.
3 was my first and the big bad was great too, but nothing tops 5 6 was such a letdown.

5 would be on par with 2 or above it if the fire effects were closer to 2's and the arsenal wasn't so incredibly disappointing. It was very close, but 2 just outright beats it in terms of an experience.

Haven't played Far Cry enough to give a verdict, skipped Far Cry 2, had lots of fun with Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon, everything afterward felt so much like a FC3 reskin (even BD already kinda did) that I didn't even bother trying it.
