That said its buying pressure by holding content for ransom. I miss when it got you a tshirt or poster but back then it was just done for games that came from consistently good companies. Now I would never bother with a pre-order, hell if a game has too much DLC its an automatic shit can.
But today you have backlog gamers that won't care what is coming out and old school gamers that won't buy a pre-order, but you also have a lot of casual bro gamers from the 360 days that only play a few games with friends and always buy it so they may as well. You also have mobile style crackhead gamers that can't help but spend and probably at this point gamers that never knew the joy of buying a complete game at reasonable price that didn't need to be patched or finished later.

Yes, but World and Rise were the first things to come to a different platform so I'm going to assume they will keep doing it. It is a huge plus to not dealing with Nintendo's gimmicks and have it be a proper platform.
