Classics. Everyone knows about it, but not many people engage anymore. Genre- and era-defying, but could also be considered outdated by some. Despite the popularity, can be seen as boomer-y in modern times, and the sensibilities of its time are crystal clear when you look a the work today. Currently niche despite everyone knowing about them. Arguably influenced a lot of things, but no "direct" evolution is present on the market anymore.
A once-in-a-lifetime lightning in a bottle, which will probably not be recaptured in the modern industry.

The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art.

Brian Wilson alone is better than any Beatle, but John Lennon and Paul McCartney mostly Paul kek together were far more consistent. Early Beatles output is actually pretty brilliant, their later material traded in songwriting chops for zany wackadoo sound effects and instrumentation.

SMiLE Sessions is probably the best pop album ever made, tho, so Brian wins in the end.

All Things Must Pass is hands down the best work of any beatle. The only complaint is that some of the last minute addition instrumentals are a bit boring. But they're literally a bonus, it was already a perfect double album without them
