The current project under the codename "Synergy" has a aimed release for late 2023 early 2024, though another delay may occur(Shocker).
The game is set to release on a new Switch model that's planned for March 2023 with a full reveal in Oct or Nov.
The game has two gameplay styles (Immersive Mode) and (Classic), (Immersive Mode) allows the Player to use the detached Joy Cons and motion controls to control Samus, (Classic) is aimed for a more sit down and play style like most games.
(Immersive Mode) Uses the Left JC for general movement, Visor modes and clambering, Right JC controls weapons and aim(Moving the JC moves the arm cannon, analog is disabled in this mode to prevent interference). The buttons(ABXY) are meant to be pressed by Left hand while holding the Left JC to simulate interacting with the arm cannon.
The game will be set after Prime 3 and before Fusion. Plot revolves around Samus having her Power Suit stolen by the game's villain and left only with her Zero suit. The Federation refusing to allow their top mercenary being on the sidelines, give her a experimental power armor based on her Power Suit. Gameplay will be different as it's more like piloting a Samus mech rather than controlling Samus.
The game is meant to start off a new trilogy but only featuring Samus in the first game and the other two focusing on new Federation characters introduced in P4.
The game's villain is Sylux, an ex-Federation Trooper used in an project by the Federation to recreate Samus's power armor. Something went wrong and turned Sylux's body into pure energy and now can only exist inside his armor. He found a Chozo artifact that allows him to steal powers from his enemies including Samus's Power Suit which he hopes he can use to restore his own body.

all of this sounded terrible, i never understood why prime had to be a "trilogy" 2 was a great stand alone game of spook after primes phenomenal style of *read it if you want" story structure, then prime 3 had this military stuff with mission objectives and npc conversations which didn't start feeling like the previous primes until closer to the middle. now i get you can only use samus and >visit haunted planet >it goes BOO and have it be interesting once or twice a decade but im serious, having prime 3 try to do some avengers shit being a "come together" video game because of halo and phazon was not why people were anticipating prime 3
if you got to do something with sylux, just do something dumber like have him disappear into a recently/ self destructed planet while escaping your bounty on him and try to figure out if everyone died because of him or something bigger, and measure your options with that
