I thought it was extremely boring after about 5 hours of play. It looks great and the music and audio design is good, but I really don't get what people see in the gameplay.

A few truly brilliant boss encounters can make people forgive a lot of shitty and amateur design choices.

if you call yourself an indie developer, you can release any old garbage and get automatic praise from a segment of gamers simply for not being AAA.

They aimed for the souls fanbase hence why they will bend over backwards defending anything with constant buzz word usage.

I genuinely enjoyed every minute I put into this game up until I got to the very end battles where you have to fight bosses without getting his once with no charms. I quit on the 5th boss. Fuck that shit, I don't give nearly enough fucks to train for days to beat a single boss.

Bruh. Skill issue. It has beautiful art, but it also has soul and deep lore. It IS a masterpiece, you are just not skilled enough to enjoy it. There should be an easy mode so everyone can experience its epicness.

Even Bloodstained has far better level design despite being a half-baked clone of SOTN in some ways. The best things about Hollow Knight are the artstyle and music, and most people don't look past that and realize it's mostly copy-pasted platforms without much thought coupled with a few super meat boy tier platforming challenges. The game is hardly a metroidvania at all aside from the map being big.

filtered. Dawn is a way better game and literally the only things wrong with it are the gimmicky touch screen seals and the portrait art styles that, both combined, make up 0.0001% of the game.
Level design, weapon diversity, progression, and sprites are all better in Dawn. Everything that matters is better in Dawn.

The game maxes out at 112% and doesn't require that at all. It just LETS you do that.
