Play Long War (grand strategy edition)

I'm playing x-com files at the moment and having a fantastic time. OpenXcom mods are more fun than new games for me.

How's this coming together?

I'm not that autistic.

Very well, more of a 4X game that a grand strategy game though.

LWOTC is good. Very good.

Xcom's a good game, he loves me, he doesn't mean ta hurt me

Are there any mods that get rid of the shitty fallout shelter minigame? base building is just fucking annoying.

>failed a mission and lost 2 party members because I missed 6 out of 8 flanking shots against a chosen while he got 3 crits in a row that 1 shot each of my units they hit, 2 of them straight through full cover
I'm a bit miffed.

>second ground-battle mission
>get completely annihilated
I think I don't understand this game. How to actually have fun?
Never played the game before.

Finish the main game on vanilla normal first. Long War is practically NG+ Nightmare

Is this your first time playing an XCOM game? Also do you understand how Long War mechanics work? Infiltration is especially insidious, if you don't get how it works then obviously you will get wiped sooner or later.

Currently playing Xpiratz again after not having touched it in two years and boy did it change. Don't agree entirely with the freshness system but other wise it's a blast.

Nothing more satisfying than kidnapping altar boys with my loknarr only squad.
But then again I'm a RP fag and like to imagine mini-stories alongside my gameplay. (The loknarrs forcefully free the altar boys of their virginity on the way back to base).
Also FUCK ZOMBIE MISSIONS with tier3 and higher zombies.

>full campaign of tutorial
I don't know. That sounds like an unreasonable time investment.
Also, no ironman? Isn't that how you'd get the most out of it?

I played Xenonauts and played a bit of XCom 2.

All i can say is that you should never ever try to go on a mission with infitration below 100% unless you are about to lose the campaign, to make the mission easier try to reach 125% or 150%.

>started playing XCOM 2
>my sniper has 23 days to recover after being wounded
Jesus I don't remember recovery time being this long on the first game

redpill me on this game

Made by the studio behind Long War 1 and 2

I had a unit out for 45 days once
