It's a great game

being a contrarian doesn't make you an interesting person

Nier Automata belongs in the hall of fame alongside with a number of other greatest games of all times. It was a huge positive surprise that such magnificent, engaging and soul-full games could still be made this day and age, by an AAA studio at that.

The gameplay is extremely fun and varied, and the game uses it to drive through its themes and ideas - which is exactly what this art-format requires.
The story was curious and thought-provoking, though its the themes and message that were the most striking.

Visual-design was gorgeous, and OST is drop-dead beautiful. For fans of the DrakeNier series, this game was a treat.

It's geared towards people who favor aesthetics over mechanics, like many Ice Pick Lodge, Suda51, and other Yoko Taro games. If you enjoy gameplay in general, you're gonna probably be fucking irritated with it.

God this game looks awful and gameplay is incredibly mediocre, just goes to show that retards will gobble anything up as long its heckin japonisu anime gamerisu

The booty

-Robobutt
-Nice music
-Nice animations
-Baby's introduction to existencialism

That's it.

Reminder this game is nothing but a gay tranny allegory

>Robot "gendering" themselves
>A "male" robot named Pascal with a feminine voice
>Robots before Adam boss fight pretending to be other genders while simulating sex
>Adam and Eve have a homoerotic incest undertones
>9S ripping off 2B's arm and attaching on to himself is a genital mutilation metaphor which made him go fully insane after A2 tried to reason with him
>A literal suicide button
>Director's obsessed with ass fetishes and people with ass fetishes are tend to be homosexuals
>Homosexuals known to be attracted to younger boys (i.e 9S)

Meds.

gameplay is lit
looks like thicc

He posts that in most Automata threads

Keep playing it and pay attention to what it's doing.
Hardly anybody got past route a, i've seen the PS4 stats and it was something like 47% worldwide, and that was a whole year after it came out. The real game doesn't start until route b, that's why the title card doesn't appear until then.

Its best feature isn't the gameplay or the story, or even the incredible music, it's how it presents its ideas using the features of the medium, and how your perception and understanding of what is happening changes drastically the more you play it. It also makes you actually play out critical story moments and intertwines its themes into the gameplay itself, instead of just showing you in cutscenes. This and so much more (effortlessly smooth genre hopping, dynamic music tech that ads and removes stems from the audio at critical points etc) make it impossible to have been done as anything other than a video game. It's the logical progression of Kojima fucking about with the medium back in MGS2, except Taro and Automata takes that shit to ridiculous new levels. At the end, they didn't just break the 4th wall, they fucking obliterated it in a truly unique video game way.

If only more people played it all the way through they'd realise the potential video games have.

LOL

Dilate

cringe

These people get it.

I also enjoy the extended universe with the short stories and stage plays. Just wish they were more accessible.

I like 9S.

drakengard and replicant better

I tried getting into it, but I hated the combat. I picked up Nier replicant, and it’s ok, but the narritive doesn’t feel that grand, and the combat is still meh.

I didn't like the game as much as the original Nier. That part at the end when you hack A2 with 9S and it zooms out to show you're in the pause menu is kino though.

>If only more people played it all the way through they'd realise the potential video games have.
This.
I was actually positively surprised a few months back when my local small gaming magazine made a multi-spread article about DrakeNieR universe's games, including a full re-done review of Automata. The author quite literally apologized for being a hasty dummy back in 2017 and couldn't stop dropping praise words now.

>muh combat
You people got a sad, limited understanding of video games. Plus the combat is fun and varied.

The gameplay isn't nearly varied enough to carry the length of the game but it's the same way with the original Nier. It's not a big deal for me because I was invested in the story, but it's definitely one of Platinum's weakest combat systems.
