Being friends with (You) in 5.0 is all done through the player being Azem. Both of them talking about the color of your soul and Hythlo specifically calling out that Ardbert's soul is the exact same is markedly different than a time travel story where you go back as player character and hang out with them.
Source me then. Give me the ShB talk about it that isn't about being Azem. Elidibus being "confused" and saying "you were there...?" was not in base ShB.
