For me?

For me?

It's the original ending where Holy/Lifestream erased all humans from the Planet and restored the balance of nature.

[spoiler[FFVII is canonically in the same universe as FFX, but just on different planets. Jenova is unironically probably a summon from Spira that caused all sorts of crazy shit. Shinra is also from FFX-2 and his descendent somehow got off of Spira.[/spoiler]

even in the original ending there's what appears to be smoke seen rising from a small area in midgar at the end (humans? or red's people? who knows). apparently human children can also be heard laughing as it fades to black it's intentionally ambiguous and open to interpretation. and it's better for it.

>apparently human children can also be heard laughing
People say this completely ignoring Red XIII's race can speak, it could easily be his children laughing.

>Biggs and Wedge in every FF game
>THE GAMES MUST BE LINKED!!!!
head canon only :^)

Jenova is literally Lavos and Deus. CT, FF7, and Xenogears all started from the same pile of ideas.

FF7 has a lot of little dialog choices and stuff, like in Kalm telling the guy Mako is good or bad, or stealing the bird eggs or sparing them, I think it would have been neat for the ending to depend on these actions, like Holy examines your actions and humanity is spared or wiped out if you chose good or bad.

as i said, it's open to interpretation

>everybody doesn't come back to life at the end
You can keep it. I'll take the remake, thank you. Obviously Squeenix has learned how to write a story between then and now.

I mean the game is totally ambiguous as to whether or not humans were spared so it's something you can always imagine and is a fun talking point. If it just came down to the heroes, who were already trying to save the planet, and their little actions along the way determining what ending you get, I think that wouldn't add much and only serve to remove discussion. No one goes for bad endings anyway and those are usually seen as the non-canon joke ending.

Nobody bring up Advent Children that shit doesn't count and aint canon.

>fighting sepiroth
>pale horse
>50 second video super
>somehow doesnt destroy Saturn
>he is a "light-bringer".
synagogue of satan played their hand heavy in this game

>I mean the game is totally ambiguous as to whether or not humans were spared so it's something you can always imagine and is a fun talking point
Correct. The director's interpretation of the ending is that humanity is dead in the ending but he left the ending open to interpretation intentionally for the players to make their own decision.

I actually love that bittersweet ending.

I never really liked this sort of thing where it fast forwards years into the future and it's like.. oh well the rest of the cast is fucking dead then. Sure, people get old and die but we don't need to have that explicitly confirmed.

Also Ultimecia is canonically Rinoa in the future and Squall is dead. Also all Final Fantasy games are actually linked through Kingdom Hearts

I played it for the first time with all the SYW mods on and was FLOORED. This kicked out X as my favorite single-player FF just under XII.

XII > XIV = VII > V > BDFF = X/X-2 for now. I've yet to play IV, VI, VIII, IX and am playing through the XIII trilogy as we speak.

Of course, Materia use is a brilliant customization mechanic, but what I loved about VII was that it had some of the most beautiful pre-rendered maps I've ever seen. But with the story, FFVII felt like playable good anime, almost as much as Xenogears.

I'll say my favorite scene is also Nomura and Kitase's second favorite scene, that is, the one where Tifa and Cloud fucked under the Highwind. Obviously, Mideel is also definitely their #1, but Gears was itself all that x10.

My other favorite however was defeating Ruby and Emerald Weapon. Emerald Weapon with the strat from that one Famitsu video with Angermax spammed to death with Hero Drinks.

For that reason, I still say that Xenogears SHOULD'VE been FFVII. Of those three games, Gears explored that idea in full fleshed out detail, and it's the most outwardly political, psychological, and even personal Square game yet. I love it when creators get super personal, which is why I still pine for Versus XIII.

It could also be personal bias since Xenogears helped me reevaluate my relationship with institutionalized religion and pretty much defined my morals as a kid.

>humans using industry to pollute the atmosphere BAD
>cows and other wildlife rupturing the ozone with their smelly farts GOOD

cows are LITERALLY industrially produced animals

How dare you

Humans definitely were spared.
They would have wiped out the entire earth and Holy not worked and showed everyone dying if Holy didn't save everyone.

The blue light struggled against Meteor but then Lifestream (Aeris) came and saved the day.
Also, confirming she is alive and thus why Remake is a continuation.

So is literally every single fruit or vegetable you consume. You think kale, broccoli or bananas are natural?

>Humans definitely were spared.

Explain this then.

they stopped using mako and fucked off of midgar

How does that conflict with the point being made you autist

Midgar gets completely destroyed in the ending cinematic, they didn't rebuild it.

I never thought the implication was "human race extinct", it just showed that Midgar, the big bad, has finally shut down and nature's healing bla bla. There's still plenty of other places that don't require mako energy to host civilization like Kalm, Nibelheim or Wutai.

>hey maybe we should stop using mako since the big mako company city is absolutely destroyed and pretty much every reactor was ruined or destroyed making the Big Materia
>500 YEARS LATER
>city that only ran on mako and was fucked by a literal meteor impact is abandoned
Yeah clearly because Midgar is empty humans are extinct

>>cows and other wildlife rupturing the ozone with their smelly farts GOOD
I wonder what the next bullshit thing you guys will say is destroying the ozone years from now.

Wait, why are the reactors on the ground level? I thought the whole point is they're up on the second plate? Even if the entire plate section has crumbled to the ground floor this doesn't make any sense.

He's literally shown running along with his cubs.
What the fuck is "open for interpretation"?

If humanity survived they would have repaired up Midgar and it wouldn't be an overgrown ruin in the future.

Cattle farts contain methane which is fucking up the atmosphere. It's one of the usual "meat bad" talking points because we keep so many cows for the meat industry.

Wouldn't the reactors have to reach the ground

Why the fuck can Red XIII live over 500 years? I know he can talk, but he's immortal too? Bullshit.

the mako reactors span from ground level to the top of the plate. Access to them is only on the upper plate. they draw up mako from the ground.

TODAY I WILL REMIND THEM

FF7 has a very politically charged narrative, so don't go about saying you don't like politics in your games anymore, 'Kay?

You're singling out one point for your argument when it should be applied to everything, mega-autist.

The reactors touch the ground floor and rise up, they double as massive pillars to fix the plate in place.

This is literally not what happened in the OG ending. Stop pushing this meme
