As always it depends. Personally I think there are just as many soulless, cookie cutter bland indie games as there are soulless, cookie cutter bland AAA games. I feel like AA is the right middle ground where they tend to have the budget to make a game with good content while still having the freedom to be fun and interesting. After all, one of the big issues with indie games is that they're a lot more hampered by the skills of the few individuals making them. Realistically you just can't expect too much from an indie game

Some indie games are full of pure unfiltered naivety and underdeveloped SOUL and are often better than the old played out method of typical AAA games that appeals to the masses (i.e. retards)
