Honestly, Almudron and his sub become a somewhat serviceable fight with a small crown, still not enjoyable, but not cancer at least. I want to strangle whoever had the idea to make him so fucking big otherwise though.

the fire one stands still doing huge wind up fire attacks to let you hit it more
and somnnacanth lost its only threat (sleep) so it can do shitty ice attacks

The series didn't really start until gen 2. Gen 1 may have just been a tech demo for how bad it was.

Rise's monster roster was small enough that they shouldn't have even needed to pick and choose which monsters would get subs.

Great Izuchi would obviously skipped because it's the tutorial monster, Magnamalo was obviously going to get a variant anyway, and Allmother Narwa basically acts as a variant for both Ibushi and Narwa at once.
