Who watches this? Why watch this? I can get that some people just put it in background and half listen but still why? Why not recommend a game to friends and have a conversation? Why not make a thread on web and talk? It's just so weird.

Maybe they are, maybe there are 1000 ads in between and the algorythm favors long videos. If thats not it, I have no clue then, because for every logical reason videos should be as short as you say.

The only 7 and a half hour long essay I ever turned on for a day was Le Van Man's Resident Evil video. Only because he talked about the entire series as a whole.

I’m detecting a pattern of people going on impossibly long lectures about video games and trooning out not long after.

While I stand corrected with it being his most viewed video, those trend with the sort of format that works for him along with having years of exposure compared to under two months.

Doors close for you as you age through your 20's regardless of how shit the economy is out there. Even if you somehow manage to make a career out of talking about video games on the internet I can garentuee that these people will look back on their life and regret spending so much fucking time locked in a sedentary and mostly antisocial activity for the majority of their weeks. Look at someone like Jeff Gerstmann and how fucking jaded he is.
