When it came out gamers were complaining they made the prince too emo and maybe the story was a bit shit but the gameplay was much improved.

Words cant describe my awe as a kid beating this game countless times only to learn much later theres an alternate ending I missed and then finding it and playing it.
Shame this series died for Asscreed
