New standard set for arena when?

There's literally too much MTG product coming out now. I new set every fucking 2-3 months and sets cannibalizing the sales of another set like what just happened with Battle for Baldur's Gate and the new Double Masters

Double Masters is going to be a fucking disaster. They're going to move so much product it will kill the next three sets.
There's a reason they delayed the Warhammer 40k products by a few months, and it wasn't just a supply issue.

>cannibalizing the sales
the data shows otherwise, the sales are better than ever every year since they started pumping out product like retarded, regardless of quality of said product

I like the lands. I haven't bought paper since the original Kamigawa, though.

who even plays this pozzed trash anyway? Wizards banned any players who actually cared about the game.

What? Storytime?

How do they even get new players?

Kamigaws was the last set for me too. It was really interesting and flavorful but the cards were so bad mechanically. Especially with Mirrodin having a stranglehold on the meta.
I know it got better with Ravnica but I was already out.

Baldur's Gate set booster box prices crashed hard. Went from the usual price to 90$. There are talks that it might get to 60$

They don't. Game is dying and they're trying to milk every last drop before it goes.

WotC will do fine no matter what because "investor" whales will scoop up every box they print. It's the LGS that make half their annual income on MtG sales that are going to suffer from it. Lots of stale inventory no one will buy.

There is no story he is full of shit. A lot of older players are quitting / have quit because new sets suck and WotC reprint policy is so bad that playing good formats is becoming prohbitively expensive even for veterans but there isn't any significant amount of player bans due to "pozzed trash" especially since the vast majority of players never play higher than their LGS.

Kamigawa was a definite low point but missing out on Ravnica, Timespiral, and Lorwyn sucks I feel bad for you those were some great formats.

This seems like desperation to me. Just pumping out as much shit as possible.

Fuck JotC

>Google price tag for a box of double masters
Fucking hell. Maybe I should switch to a cheaper hobby like Faberge egg collecting.

i have 3 stores around me that look exactly like this, while pokemon and yugioh have empty shelves with people buying product

I started playing magic because of how horrible Pokemon has gotten.

That is wishful thinking. Arena brought many new players in, and surprisingly enough some magic players do have children and they are being inducted into the cult as well.

Their investors wanted larger profits, so they are flooding their own market with too much products that's into competition between each others. The only reasons why they are making record profits years after years right now is the fact that whales is one hell of a drug, MTG card market investors acutally buying set boxes and Blackrock giving them money to be as woke as possible.

How bad can a game be that the current state of Magic looks good?

I remember a year or so ago scalpers were buying up literally any trading cards they could find (not even just pokemon/yugioh I saw dudes buying up booster boxes for completely irrelevant TCGs or sports like they'd find a mint honus wagner or some shit) and even then shelves were still overflowing with magic product

Magic is a good game, rules wise, and its very easy to teach. It's probably the most newby friendly game on the market that anyone actually plays.

Anecdotally: Almost every single tcg shop in my area has shutdown in recent years. Even when I was playing MTGA I'd see very little engagement on youtube videos, most channels would struggle to get a couple thousand subs.

I think mtg is a house of cards propped up by investors and whales at this point. I think the casual market is dying or dead. I mean the game has been absolutely fucking shitting itself in for years now, it's not hard to see why people would leave.

>Magic is a good game
Was. Game is fucking garbage now. They even ruined commander.

who the fuck actually plays arena? Everyone I know rage quit that shit because of the economy and shuffler and moved to mtgo

I was in my local store about a year ago to play some 40K and was talking to owner how I was thinking about getting back into modern and he outright told me I shouldn't.

Smart man

>rules wise
I know they only print shit cards now, but the core of the game is good.
I quit during BFZ standard because it sucked and I was between modern decks. Since then every single person I know who plays has quit except one, and he only plays legacy tournaments because he already has the collection to support that, but he hasnt bought off the shelf cards since 2016.

Secret Lairs are fine. "Investors" gobble them up making them target normal set singles less, so it is easier for me to actually buy regular cards to play with.

Yeah says a lot when he doesn't want me to pay money which would support him.
Damn rereading this, I should probably sleep soon.

I genuinely don't get the people that stuck around after the 1-2 punch of oko and lurrus
there's always strong cards but those should have made it clear something is fundamentally wrong internally. it's like coughing up blood and saying "nah I'm good, let's play another round."

>MTG is shit
>Pokemon is just MTG-lite for kids
>YGO is literally dead
>Digital TCGs like Hearthstone are memes
What's there even to play at this point?

Except when the secret lair cards are exclusive and legal in formats you play.
They apologized for the Walking Dead fiasco and then fucking did it again.
Warhammer 40k shit is just going to be even more pushed. Check the price of what they are asking for that shit.

I've reached a point where I can only play pet decks in Arena for enjoyment. Otherwise, my options are:
>mindlessly aggro deck that plays itself
or
>be a huge cocksucker and play draw-go

A different, 1v1 game where there's more skill-involved than luck, perhaps?
