Can you name a single mmo without a cash shop?

Do they still exist? I'm so tired of people just buying their way to the top I want to play an online game where I feel like I made an accomplishment. "just cosmetics" fuck off even the cosmetics part is important to me, the way my character should look must be earned not bought.

Apparently someone figured out that leaning on poor NEETs who have 16h a day to play games isn't good business. Who'd have thunk. Anyone can agree that buying gear or money through rmt sucks, but costume shops only are the best of both worlds. If that's not good enough for you then maybe MMO's aren't for you.

>Is there a single mmo without the developers trying to make money
That's how stupid is the question you're asking. Just play single players games dumb frogposter

I believe FFXI doesn't let you pay for anything other than extra characters and more inventory space

But how can I forget my incredibly depressing and pathetic life in a single-player game that ends in roughly 60 hours?

You can play those open world trash like Skyrim, Fallout 3/4, BoTW or Elden Ring that has 2000 hours of grindable "content" in them. I mean they're basically single player MMO's anyway.

>I mean they're basically single player MMO's anyway.
except with significantly worse combat lmao.

Bump

But literally every genre has better combat than MMOs

how? skyrim is literally just pressing 1 button.

MMOs are dead GET A LIFE YOU FAT FUCK

Dumbest thing I've read all day. No one who says this has ever done high end content in an mmo. No reasonable person would think any of those games have combat anywhere near as complex as an mmo.

No.

The closest I can think of is OSRS.

They have bonds, which are similar to WoW Tokens, but they were implemented to fight against gold sellers. Other than that, you can’t really buy your way in that game. Yes, you can buy a fuck ton of bonds to get armor/weapons/materials for skills, but those skills still take a shit ton of time to level.

I'm who you replied to and agreed. I mean I would argue ER and BoTW have better combat than most MMO's but the Bethesda trash? Just atrocious.

>I mean I would argue ER and BoTW have better combat than most MMO's
most mmos are shit, so yeah. but the better mmos have far better combat than either of those games. Elden Ring combat in particular is jank and imbalanced as fuck, on top of consisting almost entirely of roll and poke garbage.

>play MMO
>it pretends it has a story and a plot
>everyone in town is running around in tuxedo suits, catgirl ethot costumes, riding on fat butterfly pandas and drawing rainbows as they move
skin cash shops remove every aspect of immersion of any mmo.

I hate it so much.

Don't forget.
>everyone and their mothers have wings.
>modern vehicle like a bike in fantasy setting.

Albion Online.
They only sell overpriced skins but you can go to the settings to turn them off. There are lots of free skins that you get for playing certain modes or twitch drops that look way better imo.
It's free to play with a subscription that everyone buys with the ingame currency. It's 9.6m silver right now. The average player makes 1-2m per hour. You also get three days of premium on every character you create.
The subscription gives you 50% more experience and some other stuff to make it pay itself.
It's a sandbox mmorpg, horizontal progression, full loot but almost everything can be played without losing equipment but with reduced rewards. There are no mandatory grinds, no race-to-endgame but content for every kind of player to enjoy. There are no quests and you can just do what you want.
It also has fishing.

Definately one of the better ones. The community can be kind of terrible tho.

>everyone in town is running around in tuxedo suits, catgirl ethot costumes, riding on fat butterfly pandas and drawing rainbows as they move
Based. Maybe if boomers played all those boring fantasy MMO's they always say they love so much maybe you wouldn't see this
