why was vanilla classic so much better than tbc classic?
Why was vanilla classic so much better than tbc classic?

Booster meta hadn't metastized yet
Also >going from like 40 zones to 5
Downhill from there
no server transfers
Because Blizzard didn't go in to it with plans to monetize it out the ass. They thought it would be a niche thing and not worth bothering with instead of the huge phenomenon it was
TBC is already modern WoW. You just sit around in the hub area and wait for the raids, you que up for PVP and the "world" itself is nothing more than a glorified start menu. Vanilla WoW is like 90%+ spent inside the world itself doing quests and exploring and getting into world pvp. The raids and the bgs are not the true experience.
At least some of the people playing Classic tried to play it the way they remembered from 2004
Nobody still around by the time of TBCC would even think of playing it as anything besides the sweatiest, most autistic game possible
Also Blizzard fucking shit up.
vanilla wow was just as barren after the first month
only the 50+ zones had people in them and then once battlegrounds opened up they were empty too
wotlk will be better
Unironically you thought you did but you didn't.
You'll notice the rhetoric around classic went from how 'hardcore' it was after rag died to 57s in grees and 42 BWL to the 'server community' copium. This was of course 'ruined' by metafags.
By the same token, all TBC had was the 'hardcore heroics' and Kael.
Once heroics were shown to be what they always were, intermediate content with such deep mechanics as 'sheep moon' that modern players could speed run in 20 minutes and kael dropped in an hour all the nostalgia evaporated and all you're left with was the retarded story, shit gameplay (muh epik hardcore deep old skool rotation of literally just frostbolt) and trash talents.
Wrong
Idk if I'ma play wrath desu even tho it was my favorite
tbc just wasnt that good
still blows retail out of the water but its not all that. Wow peaked in wotlk
Vanilla WoW was never meant to last.
No it's not and it's f****** boring. Raid numbers have never been better than in TBC classic. They have even surpassed retail.
TBC is the official beginning of the end when it comes to WoW.
>PvP enjoyment butchered by obliterating the casual, no strings attached participation like battlegrounds and world PvP. Forced to tryhard in small format arenas instead, Blizzard devs later admit it was a mistake.
>Catch up gear denying entire patches and raid tiers in form of badges of justice that you can obtain by doing heroic dungeons.
>Flying
TBC, while still having more soul than modern retail, turned WoW into this raidlogging game that you either love or hate.
Better progression experience. More consistent opportunity to be a well geared turbochad. Getting the well-known pinnacle item was something to look forward to, rather than a constantly sliding treadmill of ever-further dangling carrots. More rewarding to gather with buddies and your server's well-known personalities to play the old favorite dungeons and help powerlevel peoples' alts. All my opinions are right and I have fucked 9 black chicks.
>after the first month
It was good for the first three months.
Look at the comments already here. The people still invested into WoW are Raid Faggots they are the most soulless husk of player left. Vanilla Classic had tons of people that wanted that true golden age experience but the Raid Faggots had to ruin it. Speedrunning to max lvl and then raidlogging. TBCC was just a more extreme example with people having tons of botted gold. Vanilla Classic was a great experience for the first 2 to 3 months. TBCC had no chance but it's always been a terrible expansion with every private server. If Blizzard made people lvl from 0 it would have been a better gameplay exp for TBCC.
copium
Absolute seething nofriend noguild nogear incel faggot, lmao
yeah it was I miss it, I quit after bwl came out because it was just raidlogging and poopsocking at that point
Compounding issues. Issues that started in classic grew worse due to compounding in tbc classic
Stop pretending you're not going to play WOTLK Classic on day one. You're mazed as fuck and you will never escape.
Now shut the fuck up.
Even the quest design blew dick, it's where they constantly started doing retarded gimmicky shit to "spice" things up. I don't think vehicle mechanics got properly implemented until Wrath but the prototypes for that type of shit were in TBC with stuff like dumb "bombing" quests.
Probably the only thing TBC did right was that it felt like an actual progression in terms of the world and story. Even if you were a hardcore raider that had cleared AQ and Naxx, Outland felt like a dangerous and hostile place. Most of the zones may have blown dick, but it succeeded in capturing the feeling of being a genuine new frontier.
More player base that was interested in the world. It was pretty cancer when phase 2 hit and you would be killed on every flight point, but at the least the world had something memorable happen. Then unfortunately fags took it too far and griefed people on pvp servers enough with uninteresting methods, like dispelling in capital cities which forced people to raid log, that any faction imbalance caused servers to die. Now servers are just too dead and people don't care about the world because modern players ruined it.
Because you were encouraged to take your time and savor the vanilla leveling experience rather than speedrunning through it to get to the ENDGAME!!
MUH MEANINGFUL JOURNEY!

It wouldn't make a difference. The gameplay changes when everyone has 15 years of experience under their belt. Classic could never be anything more but a raidlogging experience and a huge nostalgia trip. You can't erase players memory to genuinely relive Worlo.
The first month or so of wow classic was a great time and its a shame it will probably never happen again
tfw no tauren wife
>"Getting the well-known pinnacle item was something to look forward to, rather than a constantly sliding treadmill of ever-further dangling carrots."
THIS. FUCKING THIS.
I never thought Id appreciate that aspect of the game so much.
you mispelled vulpera
why dont you just not play it?
Getting to 60 and getting your first legendary item / weapon is where the game ends. After that it's just cope.
>tHe ReAl gAmE sTaRtS aT 6o
was always a cope
i'm not pretending everything, everyone knows the first two weeks of an xpac is the best time to play since people are actually in the world and not just afking in the city
i prefer retail. cause new class
