Can someone please explain why Nintendo's first-party games are MIA? What the FUCK is going on with BotW2? What the FUCK is going on with Metroid Prime? What the FUCK is going on with the next Donkey Kong? What the FUCK is going on with the next 3D Mario? The lack of information is VERY concerning and makes me think the company has serious internal problems at the moment.

they just release rehashes and people buy it by the millions. they don't care anymore. this isn't the Wii U era where they were simping for the customer. today the customer IS the simp.

Covid really fucked them up. 2023 is going to be stacked.

covid and preparation for switch succesor

They got a new first party game coming out this month.

>Covid really fucked them up

QRD?

Small indie company pls understand

For releases this year, Well Mario Strikers and Kirby are 2nd party developed by NLG and HAL respectively but
>EPD1: This studio mostly oversees and collaborated with external studios like HAL or Intelligent Systems or even something like Bayonetta 3 and communicates between them and Nintendo.
>EPD2: The same role as EPD1, overseeing external projects
>EPD3: The Zelda team, probably the biggest EPD studio and currently working on BOTW2.
>EPD4: Works on smaller Nintendo titles like LABO, Ring fit Adventure or Switch Sports
>EPD5: Develops Splatoon and Animal Crossing
>EPD6: Another external support team like 1 and 2
>EPD7: Responsible for the Wario ware/Tomodachi games, collaborates to work on 2D Metroid
>EPD8: The 3D Mario team
>EPD9: The Mario Kart/ARMS team
>EPD10: Made Mario Maker 2 and developed Pikmin in the past
>EPD11: Nintendo mobile game support

Pretty much all of them are accounted for, aside from EPD8 who’s probably still working on the next big Mario game and EPD10.

which

Because the Switch successor is in the works. The next generation of Nintendo first party games are in the works and they need to be ready to be released within the next couple years. This is why the last few years of every Nintendo console is dead as hell and all you get are JRPG and 3rd party scraps.

There was this pandemic a couple years ago where people stayed at home for awhile. You would have noticed if you weren't a NEET. Nintendo aren't very good at working from home so it screwed up their development.

Nintendo is a public company. Enough said.

This, anyone who has been playing vidya since the 90s knows how Nintendo works

mama mia

>Because the Switch successor is in the works.
Except the Switch barely had games on release, too.

>ywn rip a dart with Miyamoto

>conveniently only nintendo is the big relevant game company that sucks at working from home
no, they do this shit every generation. it's always front-loaded. the last couple of years of the Wii and Wii U were garbage.

Patents.

Games like Genshin and such really thrived from using the BotW formula.

Nintendo want to capitalize on that hence have put in a fuckload of patents for gameplay mechanics for future games (these can take a year or two to clear)

So once BotW 2 is released. Any game that takes its ideas will have to pay nintendo for their ideas.

Its like how the camera in Mario Osyssey shows a shadow when Mario is behind geometry. They slapped a patent on it so anyone else who does it has to throw money at Nintendo.

It had plenty of big hitters in the first 2 years. Odyssey, Zelda, MK8 (granted it's a port), Splatoon 3, Smash Ultimate, Pokemon, their new IP ARMS regardless of what you think of it.Then once they get those out of the way it gets really slow.

> conveniently only nintendo is the big relevant game company that sucks at working from home

I mean the PS5 has had what, 3 games released for it since it released 2 years ago? One of which is a remake of a PS2 game.

Asian people organizing ruins things for the rest of the world?

All the big hitters were mostly ports from the WIi U. And no one cared for Arms.

>Games like Genshin and such really thrived from using the BotW formula.
it copied botw in the most superficial ways. like a vaguely similar art style, climbing, gliding, and atmosphere. but other than that the gameplay is nothing fucking like zelda, it's just a hack and slash gacha game with the most weeb looking chink characters.

literally no other AAA companies are releasing games wtf you talking about

>What the FUCK is going on with BotW2?
Its in development
>What the FUCK is going on with Metroid Prime?
Its still in development hell after reworking it
>What the FUCK is going on with the next Donkey Kong?
Retro are working on MP4
>What the FUCK is going on with the next 3D Mario?
With exception to Galaxy 2, every console gets one big 3D Mario game, we had Odyssey and Bowsers Fury on switch

This is literally just something you made up to cope with the fact that you'll be in a game drought for many years to come, tendie.

Playstation is just the go to platform for multiplat games for normalfags. It's first party lineup isn't nearly as important as Nintendo's. playstation has never been about its first party games.

>like a vaguely similar art style, climbing, gliding, and atmosphere.
That's a lot of things lol, genshin has a different combat system and thats about it.

yes they are, what the fuck are you talking about

and no physics based puzzle solving. climbing and gliding is very superficial shit, that's not gameplay. combat and puzzle solving is the core gameplay of botw. walking around is not gameplay.

This. Switch feels like an extension of Wii U and not so much it's own thing. I can't think of many great from the ground up original games for it.
I don't think gimmicks are the answer but I hope they are a bit more adventurous with the next system

The last major game to come out was Elden Ring and that was in February. God of war doesn’t come out to the end of the year. Star field got delayed to next year. Shits fucked.

At least the switch is getting Xenoblade and Splatoon soon.

Every console until the Wii had a big hitter. Then things got sluggish.

That's a lot of unpatentable things, even art style is just a vague visual style rather than any imagery copied wholesale so they are free.

Legally, Genshin is a different enough game to avoid any patent or copyright issues.

how is it cope? I'm not fucking defending it you nigger, I'm explaining it. just because there's a reason behind it doesn't mean it's okay for Nintendo to have game droughts.

PPPPPRRRRRREEEEEEAASSEEEEEE UNDERSTAND!

>no, they do this shit every generation
Ok so then why are you freaking the fuck out

Cope

Still buying Switch OLED

>playstation has never been about its first party games
Sad that this has been true for so long that people now think it was always the case.
