GDQ used to be an event where you'd speedrun games and earn money on the side for charity. Now and in recent years it's been only about earning as much money as possible for charity and putting on a good show to get more people to donate. They don't care about speedrunners anymore, they talk over the runners trying to get more people to donate money, they don't care about runs which is why when the MGR runner cheated in the DLC at an event made by speedrunners who should have blatantly seen he was cheating but didn't because they don't care, the runner decided to tell them himself

Anyone that comes along and makes improvements or does better gets pushback from the original top leaderboarders especially since those who are the first in leaderboards usually get moderator status or what the fuck ever. And the mods get to decide which arbituary glitches are allowed and what aren't and they cause splits in the community with a million fucking subcategories like anyone gives a fuck that you beat banjo kazooe in 10 minutes whether you used a certain glitch or not

I watched a run where some PC fat was playing on KB/M all through out the game but at the end when it was final boss fight time the runner went on a rant about being old and over 30 and he cares about his health so he picks up a controller that has turbo feature to beat boss and no one got mad or called him a cheater and you can guarantee that runner isn't banned either.

I was watching some random Jak 3 speedrun stream and there was this rule that all runs become invalid if the player by accident goes out of bounds, even when it would result in a clear timeloss. And then the guy was about to get his personal best but because he accidentally went out of bounds he just accepted that the run is no more valid?? Like wtf you literally lost 10 seconds because of that and you are now going to invalidate the whole run because the old game is glitchy????

there are rules because they make it easier for everyone to understand and know what is allowed, and in speedrunning they mostly come by everyone agreeing about them so most of the people are ok with them, even if they end up costing a pb.

Does anyone remember what ever drama happen to Mekarazium's DMC4 run? I remember he submitted a time which was a WR.
