Because they completely scrapped the story and rewrote it in a couple months. Its length isnt even its issue, the entire game is off, the water bubble shit for air was gay, theres too many predators so you are constantly dodgeing, the hunger / thirst felt far worse than the original. It was just bad all around.

I got really confused playing through the game. Apparently they made a point of it in a prior beta build, but the release build seems to have completely omitted it.

I actually liked the basic premise of a smaller sub. Sadly the seatruck was a bit of a pain in the ass. If it had just been a smaller, configurable vehicle, that would've probably been ideal.

People were asking for more deep sea horror shit and they made everything more bright, harmless and colorful AND MADE HALF OF IT ON LAND all while making the rest of the game worse
