It's probably one of the only Sonic games that could be considered as "eh". It's boring. It does not really do anything exiting. It's just "Here's Eggman and Metal Sonic, go fight them". I can excuse it since it's a mobile game so it's expected that it wouldn't be great but still; it doesn't hold up nearly as well the original Sonic games, Advance series, or even Rush do. Then Mania come along and shat it on even harder. It's basically the worst 2d Sonic game compared to the others but it's better when compared to a few other mediocre platformers.

Sonic 4 just didn't utilize the lack of momentum properly.
Freedom Planet ceiling walking and gravity-defying leaps are no worse than Naka's physics from gameplay standpoint.
