I want to get a Steam Deck but as a lifelong pirate Chad I want to know how it works on the Deck? Do I need to buy games on steam to play or can I just pirate my shit like regular using the native OS or do I need to sideload? Finally how about emulation? Can I use my regular emulators like PCSX2 an Dolphin or Ryujinx or do I need to jump through hoops and loops?

Add the exes as non-steam games and run them through proton. Fitgirl might not work, you'll have to either torrent directly, instead of using repacks, or download on your desktop first and send the unpacked version to your deck. I use syncthing
For emulation, I used EmuDeck, which is a little overkill because it downloaded seemingly every emulator in existence. It allows me to have icons for my games though, which is nice Launcher.exe/AI.exe is a pirated Steam game btw, using a cracked steam_api.dll. 0 issues

Run the installer with proton or wine. Or, if that doesn't work for some reason and the install won't start, install it on your PC and copy the files over.

I got lucky and got mine for 800 new, but i agree the price is steep. At least they give you decent specs for what you pay for. It can feel a little cramped but i have used much worse. Oh and PS Vita Dpad. No joke.

I have a win max 2021, so I know the controls ae pretty great (if you're a fan of the vita), because I think they're the same in that. I could get one for 600 UK pounds now, but I think the boat has been missed, because the loki max would only cost me a little more, so I will go with that.
The win 3 looks like an awesome device for emulation though. Smallest one I have seen
