FFX was my introduction to Final Fantasy and jRPGs in 2002. And guess what, being a dumb fucking 11yo kid back then, I liked the game. It was unlike anything I played before, and the cinematics blew me away. But looking back, it was a dogshit game that paved the way for interactive movie video games and normification of the hobby. The game told the world that there's a big market of non-gamers who will buy video games that resemble movies, leading to such tragedies as Naughty Dog moving away from making fun platformer games and targeting a wider audience of normalfags who want an interactive movie and not a game.
Anyway, back to FFX. Turn-based combat is only fun if you've never played an jRPG before, or if you're a braindead zombie that enjoys the thrilling gameplay of alternating between "attack", "heal" and "buff/debuff" and revels in seeing enemies dying without any deeper thought required from the player. The characters are beyond dull. Tidus is an annoying faggot. Wakka is a cool racist dude that gets albhedwashed halfway through the game and loses all of his appeal. Auron is cool, but you only learn about his comaraderie near the end of the game. Lulu is a hot goth chick that doesn't play any role in the game and her fanservice is pretty weak, consisting of a few mammary camera zoom-ins. Rikku is an annoying whore that also fails to provide any good fanservice. Yuna has no boobs, acts weak and fragile but fails to be cute while doing so. Her transition to strong-willed whamyn feels weak and forced too. The optional endgame superbosses are trivialized with mixing and having the correct abilities on armor/weapon. Soundtrack is nice, and I understand why people come back to replay FFX for the soundtrack. I used to like it as well. Until I discovered Ar Tonelico series, which blows every other jRPG's music out of this world.
To summarize, FFX is a good game if you're a young, impressionable teenager or if you're an adult that never grows past that age mentally.
Imagine typing this out thinking any anybody will read this braindead opinion

How would you know if it's braindead if you didn't even read it?
Robert Bell
Seems like you didn't understand each character's class if you found LuLu useless. She's the fucking mage. The Nuke. Then you are complaining about Rpg mechanics being actual RPG mechanics. The characters I can agree with, they do suck ass. All of them. The story is good but the characters are there to bring in the teenage audience drama lovers. I didn't like FFX myself but it's a solid game.

>zero reading comprehension I was writing about how Lulu has zero role in the story. Learn to read, dumbass.

Based, I share most of your opinion.
>stop discussing video games Kill yourselves immediately

>dogshit game that paved the way for interactive movie video games and normification of the hobby Exactly what I thought. In fact, most JRPGs I've played have just been movie games, but JRPG retards on this board always try to pretend that because you have to do shitty turn based battles every 10 minutes it doesn't count. If I wanted a movie, I'd go watch a movie. The average shitty 7/10 shounen mogs the best written JRPG in terms of story, but also doesn't have filler gameplay either. I seriously don't get the love.

It's in the title of the thread u tard

>I only have the brain capacity to like one thing from any specific category You literally got dumber as you got older. Try your hardest to fix this before posting again.
Joseph Richardson
>shitty shounen movie game was a masterpiece because I played it when I was 14
Connor Nguyen
>I only have the brain capacity to like one thing from any specific category What a meaningless sentence. Nothing in OP even relates to what you said. Are you an ESL?

This describes all Final Fantasy games. Kids buy them because they have nice graphics and wall-to-wall marketing, and because they're kids they aren't discerning enough to understand that the gameplay is laughably shallow + unbalanced and the stories are retarded, so the games coast by on a wave of childhood nostalgia and gain undeserved reputations as "classics", despite being shit.
Blake Scott
Not only kids, but a frightening percentage of adults too, who seemingly never develop their cognitive and critical thinking skills past a young teenager's phase.
