I know plebs have a hard time accepting this, but 5 is the best in the franchise.

I love 5, I really do. If there was ever an Ace Combat anime, I hope it adapts 5's story.
But the problem with AC5 is that every other mission is THAT mission. You know, following Pops around the canyons, flying the President plane around the radar cones, etc.
Replaying the game is terrible because it has so many shit levels.
The only bad part about the radar mission is that you need a very specific payload to S-rank it if you're trying for an S-through playthrough. The radar portion itself can be gamed where it amounts to like 5 turns.
I respect your opinion but i disagree.
my favourtie is A
I hope that the series returns to the fuck huge battles with multiple fronts from Ace Combat 6 some day
The story and dialogue in that game is ass cheeks but the "Help out X amount of battalions and have 3-4 different missions in one mission basically" was awesome
The more you play through the game, the more fun those missions get. But I agree, the game could've used some more regular dogfight missions at the very least
Never played 6, stuck on xbox.
It's not even those missions for me, it's shit like Lit Fuse where the game assumes you're a chimpanzee and you're stuck waiting for the same four enemies to spawn every 30 seconds while waiting for the plot to catch up

My /k/immies are rustled really bad, you fag.
It added what is essentially a 9 minute PS3/360 era walking segment in the form of "Final Option." That alone makes it worse than 4 and 0.
I hate the western cover
Imagine the map where you blow up the giant oil refinery harbor in 7 except that's just one of three "areas" on the map
Ace Combat 6's maps are basically all like that where you'd be given three zones with different enemy spreads and usually once you resolve two of them the map progresses or ends with different dialogue for each 'front'
So you'd have a map with heavy air to ground, naval, and air to air objectives all at once and basically get to decide which you're going to favor.
*sip*
No, in reality it's a shockingly bad game which manages to undo just about every good piece of design featured in AC4. One of the worst ever blunders in an established game franchise.
Fixed it for you user :^)
For me, it's the PAL (Spanish) cover
>Woof woof!
>Yes
>No

M11B, the one where you have jets fitted with neutralizing agents sure as fuck does not get better with repeat playthroughs. There are only eight enemies for the entire mission and it takes like 10 minutes absolute minimum because of the scripted events. There is no way to speed it up via skill or experience. You will have to listen to the world's most boring car chase in it's entirety.
M12B is almost as bad, where you have to hit the radar towers in unison because of all the bullshit false starts since your team of highly trained fighter pilots cannot manage even the most basic of group co-ordination. But at least you can blitz the second half once the game has stopped fucking around.
M19 is probably the worst one where you go on an incredibly slow tour of an island following another plane. There's nothing you can do to speed things up, it's almost impossible to fail. It's like some sort of tutorial level except it's in the final third of the game.
These are the worst examples but far from an exhaustive list. At least the first time you have novelty to keep you sane, on repeat playthroughs they're insufferable.
5 also has by far the worst final boss mission. The Solg is a boring fight, basically just a giant floating shooting gallery that does nothing.
>can actually order your squadmates around in 5
wins by default
