Been meaning to play Paper Mario in Japanese for a while now.

Yeah, a bit, but reading light novels and shit ended up taking over as my main source of input because you just don't see enough words often enough in most games to make it worth your while. Now I just enjoy games for fun, but read a solid 2 or 3 LNs a week on average depending on free time and my mood.
VNs and the like are the exception to this rule of course, but Any Forums will argue that those aren't "games" to begin with.

I used to find raw JP manga and read them side-by-side with the TL version during my learning phase. Then I found out about VNs and I got stuck with it for the last decade.
My hearing is shit though. I should work on that.
