This game wasn't as bad as many make it out to be. Now if you were the person eyeing it as the next doom game and was hyped, yeah you got shafted. But just stumble upon this id tech demo then it was a fun tech demo, an id attempt at mad max.

The first half is simply okay. I think playing the dlc levels alongside the main campaign helps the general experience.
The second half is blatantly unfinished at points and I'm sure is where a lot of people start thinking "yeah, this game kinda sucks".

The texture pop in the PS3 version is downright horrible. I played it again on PC several years later. While not horrible, I think it's just okay. I do like the gunplay and gun designs. It sounds like the game was just used as a tech demo and should of been baked in the oven a bit longer

the biggest problem is how you're fighting the same 2 enemies throughout, melee raider, ar raider. i liked two, but it missed the soul of the original, along with ammo types, and god forbid, sexy female characters.

they dont tell you but you have to tweak the game to use the highest res textures, theres a guide for it on Steam

it doesn't use tile textures, every surface has a unique texture, actually the whole map uses a "megatexture" someone handpainted, it takes a toll in disk size and I think it's something that should have been implemented 10 years later

rage 2 was borderlands trying to be an id game

Essentially the games scene is one big texture you have to mod/tweak it for it to work properly
reminder sarkessian complained about her so in the sequel they killed her off

the worst parts is that 2 is enjoyable, but its missing that greatness of the first chapter of 1
