Its been proven they these games are intentionally designed to be psychologically addicting and marketed toward children that don't know better. While of course, adults have agency, gambling addiction is a legitimate mental illness and doesn't just apply to people who blow all their money on slots and poker.

"Psychologically addicting" is a ridiculous term. It doesn't trigger the same parts of the brain that addictive drugs do, it doesn't cause withdrawal, there's no physical dependency at all. It's just a conflation of terms designed to make people feel better about doing things they know they shouldn't. "I couldn't help myself, I'm an addict!"

I never claimed it was on the same level of fucking meth or heroin, but psycological addiction is a well documented and measurable phenomenon and it is being exploited for money. While it's not as completely debilitating and life-altering as something like, say, schizophrenia, it is still a medically diagnosable condition.
