Hey, it's not that bad. (Also, F.E.A.R. Thread)

It's not as good as the first one, but it's a damn good game anyway.

I actually have no issues with F.E.A.R. 3 either. I think all of them are pretty good, but the story is kinda weak and inconsistent, so I guess lore nerds won't have the same experience as somebody who can ejoy a game regardless.

The complete deletion of the leaning mechanic was fucking stupid, tho.

Did you like the first game?

I remember at the time the school demo scaring the piss out of me.

I loved it. I got the whole series both on GOG and I've been playing both versions of every game. So far, the first one is my favorite, then the third one and lastrly, the second one.

Shit, I really loved that bit. I would've loved more areas like that in the game, but I get it, it's an action game first and a horror one later, but it's amazing how it achieves to do both flawlessly.

FEAR 3 has its ups and downs for me, for me it's:

FEAR 2>FEAR 1>FEAR 3>Extraction Point>Perseus Mandate

The cutscenes for 3 were great tho. It really shows they wanted to flex the fact they got John Carpenter.

As for the expansions for FE.A.R. 1, Extraction Point was kino, but Perseus Mandate was a mistake. It looks ugly somehow.

I agree FEAR 3 cutscenes were kind of kino, but it ultimately felt like I was shooting with the pistol most of the time. Making Point Man into a two-weapon soldier was a mistake.

Indeed. Watering down the series was lame, I know they did it for console bros, but I know they could've done something different insted of straight up Halo-fying the second and third entries

I don't think that was Halo's fault.

At the time of release, Halo was big but Call of Duty was bigger.

For me it's
Extraction Point > 1 > 2 > 3 > Perseus Mandate
2 really wasn't that bad, but I don't really like how 2/3 are effectively Extraction Point across 2 games. Snakefist track always gets me because it's just out of nowhere. Plus those cheese puff bags all over the office levels. 2 had some good charm. 3 is just kind of off the rails and I think I liked the multiplayer survival more than I liked the campaign.
Trepang2 gets an honorable mention for trying to remake 1 with some solid improvements like dual wielding the shotguns. Definitely recommend the demo.

Believe it or not, I've never played a CoD game, EVER. Not that I hate them, I just never had the chance.

I'm sorry if it seemed that I tried to blame Halo, it's just that it was one of the first console shooters and, if I can recall correctly, the very first to limit the player to two guns. I guess the right word would be "consolefy" or something like that.

Can't wait for the full release of Trepang2. Stunning gameplay, it's like F.E.A.R. squared.

I played most of the CoD's up until MW3 then I just stopped.

I think I played Perseus Mandate like once, and then Extraction Point was good too; but that was ultimately retconned into oblivion. The old engine did a much better job of setting tonic moods and atmosphere's which relied on the player scavenging in the dark for stuff. FEAR 2 didn't get that all too well, but it definitely told a story where there was none, unlike the first game which teetered on the edge of a fan-made project and triple-A action title.

>tones down or removes most cool things from the first game
>adds shitty turret and mech sections
>it's not that bad

Nah fuck you, that game is still a massive dissapointment and just because more modern FPS suck even more dick doesn't make it good.

How can you like FEAR 3 and hate FEAR 2?

Where did I say I like 3, you stupid shit muncher?

I guess you didn't, sorry for enjoying the conversation you desultory bastard.

how can anyone like fear 2 other than nostalgia? the game is dull af 2009 dude bro shooter. the first game however, is a fun classic fps.

I'm actually new to the series. I bought them all during gog's and steam's sales and played them back to back. All of these games are fun by their own merit, so I can't really say any of them are bad, it's the opposite, they're all good, but it'sa question of preference.
