People are just brainwashed into thinking it's a bad game because they literally can't think for themselves, and are told by the common narrative that it's "bad" and believe it to be so because of the placebo effect. Then they blindly choose to perpetuate that "truth" through exaggeration and games of telefone, further brainwashing unthinking people and making society actively worse.

fair enough, that boss was pretty annoying, but comparatively, so was fighting the same bosses over and over on the first game, for example, or the joker/arkham in the 3rd. my point being, all these games have their annoyances, but they manage to make up for them

I played the DMC games for the first time in 2020 and went with an open mind (some of my favorite games are games universally loathed) and gave DMC2 a fair try.

It was a boring game where the enemies are afraid of attacking you, where you go through big empty maps trying to find something to do, where the melee combat felt awkward where most of the game was designed around just spamming the gun, where bosses were just tedious rather than challenging. You simply can't go from DMC1 to 2 and claim that there is nothing wrong or different with it.
Only DMC game I played in normal and never touched again. Didn't even bother playing with Lucia.

forced sequel by capcom without the original team or kamiya involved. You can beat the entire game just spamming handguns. It's too easy.

Well, it is a functional game, without bugs or issues that makes it unwinnable and it's not "TEH WORST GAME EVER"; I've played worse.
But it's not mediocre, it's just shit.
